MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) — Academy Sports + Outdoors, the popular sports, outdoors, and recreation lifestyle retailer is celebrating their grand opening at the new location in Manhattan on Friday.

The 62,000 square-feet store, located at 401 E. Poyntz Avenue, will bring 100 new jobs to the Manhattan community.

The store had its soft opening earlier this week, on Monday.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 7:45 a.m. Friday followed by a public opening at 8 a.m.

In addition to the opening of the store, there will be plenty of giveaways throughout the Memorial Day Weekend. The store is hosting a two-day celebration with interactive product demonstrations; games for all; and opportunities to interact with pros who represent top brands sold at the stores.

On Friday, when the store opens, the first 250 customers will receive a free, exclusive Academy t- shirt. The first 100 customers will also receive a free YETI Rambler.

On Saturday, the first 150 customers in line who show they are a fan of one of Academy’s social media sites will receive a mystery gift card valued between $20 and $500. Kids can also fish for free in their Shakespeare catch tank from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Academy offers an assortment of hunting, fishing, and camping equipment and gear along with sports and leisure products, footwear, apparel, patio sets, barbecue grills and more.
