Wink Hartman’s arena in Park City is getting closer to reality.
The Wichita businessman will hold a groundbreaking ceremony March 25 for the planned 5,000-seat arena at 77th Street North and Interstate 135. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the arena site.
“This building will be perfectly sized and positioned to attract top quality entertainment,” Hartman said in a statement. “We have direct interstate access and plenty of parking on site. It will be easy to attract the traveling shows as well as ticket buyers. Customer service will be the basis for our entire operation.”
Hartman originally rolled out plans for the arena last year before withdrawing them, saying the cost for the project had grown too large. He renewed the project in February.
The arena has an $18 million budget, down from its original $25 million tab. The newer version of the building will feature one concourse instead of two. The arena also has been repositioned on the site to maximize drainage, another cost efficiency.
The Law Co. Inc. is the general contractor. Law/Kingdon Inc. is the architect.
