Jun 23, 2016
Academy Sports and Outdoors will open next year in Manhattan.
The retail store will be nearly 63,000 square feet at East Poyntz Avenue and Sarber Lane, which is in the shopping center where the former Kmart resided.
Academy officials said the store will bring approximately 100 jobs to the area. This will be the company’s seventh store in Kansas.
“Academy Sports and Outdoors is excited to offer Wildcats fans with their own convenient location to shop for their sports, outdoor and lifestyle needs,” said Ken Attaway, Academy executive vice president and chief operating officer, in a press release.
The store will offer similar services to the existing Kansas locations such as scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange, racquet stringing and will sell hunting and fishing licenses along with licensed apparel for local teams and novelty items.
