Three Dillons stores in Wichita are getting multimillion-dollar makeovers.
The stores are at 13th and West, Central and Rock Road and 37th St. North and Woodlawn, said Sheila Lowrie, Dillons spokeswoman. All three stores will have expanded offerings of natural and organic foods, which is a response to customer demand, Lowrie said.
“We always look at ways we can continue to enhance the shopping experience for our customers,” Lowrie said.
Wichita has seen more grocers come to town recently – like Whole Foods, Natural Grocers and Fresh Market – that offer those kinds of food.
Renovations at the 13th and West store began last week and are expected to be completed by the fall. The store will include expanded produce selection, more deli foods, a new Collegiate Fan shop, beverage center, larger pharmacy with a drive-through, cafe seating and other upgrades.
At Central and Rock Road, renovations are expected to be completed in late summer. The meat, seafood and produce sections are being renovated, Lowrie said.
The 37th St. North and Woodlawn location renovations began in December and will be completed in the fall, Lowrie said. The store is getting a 28,000-square-foot expansion on the south and north sides, which will bring the store to about 87,000 square feet. The store will have a new gourmet cheese shop and olive bar, cafe seating with free Wi-Fi, beverage center, new pharmacy, sushi kiosk and other changes.
Lowrie said she did not have any details on other future store renovations in the area. She also could not provide an exact cost for the renovations.
Contractors for the project are D.F. Osborne Construction at the Central and Rock Road location and The Law Company for the locations at 13th and West and 37th St. North and Woodlawn.
